Developed to refresh and hone the capabilities of mid-level to senior public affairs practitioners accountable or responsible for issues management in their organisation, this professional development module offers a deep-dive into the options and approaches available for experienced issues managers, especially in a digital information age in which the issues life cycle is accelerating, and internal and external stakeholders expect a rapid response.

Comprising insights to the latest thinking and approaches of organisations that manage best practice issues management capability and capacity, the program will focus on:

  • Refreshing best practice issues management concepts: re-engaging with the role of issues management in the contemporary organisation, including the socio-political legitimacy gap, and the impact of good issues management on corporate reputation
  • Stakeholder typology to inform effective issues management, and the issues arena
  • Advanced issues management – strategies and approaches: establishing low, medium and high risk approaches to issues management as active options.

  • The module has been developed to take the issues management expertise of practitioners and their employer organisations, to a new and higher level of performance.

    The Faculty will be led by Centre Director Wayne Burns, who is a member of the International Issues Management Council.

    Class size is limited to maximise opportunities for dialogue and interaction with Faculty and peers.
