This module comprises five credit points (5) of the 40 points required over 36 months for practitioners to achieve/maintain their certification as a Graduate of the Centre for Corporate Public Affairs (GCCPA)
This module is ideal for mid-level and established media relations practitioners in organisations and for practitioner strategists or planners, wanting to better understand how the media relations discipline is evolving in companies, public sector entities, and large not-for-profit organisations.
Centre Faculty and Guest Faculty from organisations managing best practice news media relations will share how the discipline is evolving in the corporate public affairs management function, and what this means to how the discipline is structured and resourced. This includes what ‘media relations’ is in 2018, and will be over the next few years.
The module places considerable focus on effective media relations strategy in a fast-changing news media environment, subject to rapid disruption.
The module will examine and discuss tools in harness by organisations that are effectively managing their media relations, and how peer organisations are approaching their media relations.
As well, the capabilities that organisations are developing or seeking to manage top-shelf media relations disciplines and units.
The module will examine also what leadership capability is required to manage a contemporary and effective media relations discipline.
